  Roller lathe is a special type of roller processing machine tool. The roller is usually used for the upper part of the steel rolling mill. The roller is an important component on a steel rolling mill, which uses the pressure produced by a pair or group of rollers to roll steel. Roller is a device that produces plastic deformation of metal materials, and is the main consumable component for determining the efficiency of rolling mill and the quality of steel rolling.

  There are various types of roll shapes, and common raw materials for roll shapes include cast steel rolls, pig iron rolls, and forged steel rolls. The above two types of rolls are both cast steel rolls and belong to the forged roll type.

  Currently, in order to improve production efficiency and reduce the consumption of rolls, roll production enterprises often choose high toughness rolls. It is precisely because of the increase in hardness that it is difficult for mechanical factories to process rolls. The working layer hardness of the roller itself is very high, coupled with problems such as sand particles and pores on the surface of large casting rollers, making processing more difficult. The selected roller raw materials must use roller raw materials with good wear resistance and strong toughness, in order to effectively improve production efficiency and save costs.

  So it is also important to choose the cutting tool.

  When processing high toughness rolls, hard alloy cutting tools are first used, and the cutting tool materials are the most widely used. However, its own hardness is not high, and it can only process rollers below HRC45. Such as common hot rolling rolls, support rolls, intermediate rolls, ductile iron rolls, high alloy rolls, etc.

  The second characteristic is a high-efficiency material for turning and rolling roller cutting tools, which has excellent wear resistance and impact toughness. During the production process of turning and rolling rollers, not only will severe wear and tear occur, but also the problem of knife breakage will not occur. The service life is more than ten times that of hard alloy cutting tools.

  Later on, ceramic cutting tools were used, although their hardness was higher than that of hard metal cutting tools. However, due to their high brittleness, they were only suitable for precision machining processes and were not suitable for rough turning rolls, making them prone to tool breakage.

  The rolling rolls mentioned above are divided into three categories based on raw materials: cast steel parts, rolling rolls, and forged steel. In fact, each raw material has its own manufacturing process. Let's take a look at what it is?

  Hot rolling roller rolling process: smelting, forging, softening treatment, initial processing, thickening (increasing hardness), precision processing, flaw detection inspection, and finished product inspection.

  The production process of steel casting rollers: Taking alloy steel casting rollers as an example, smelting, forging, initial processing, polishing, precision processing, performance testing, flaw detection, etc.

  The production process of forged steel rolling rolls includes material selection, EBT initial refining, LF refining, vacuum degassing, casting forming, electroslag remelting, forging, spheroidizing annealing, initial processing, quenching and tempering (quenching+high-temperature tempering), semi precision processing, flaw detection, preheating treatment, dual frequency quenching, cold treatment, low temperature tempering, precision processing, hardness, ultrasonic and metallographic packaging.
