　　1、 The linear pressure of the calender roller is high: the roller group of the calender is composed of metal rollers and paper pulp rollers. When pressurized, it will deform due to elasticity. Therefore, it can withstand much greater line pressure than ordinary calenders, increasing the tightness of the paper and also improving the smoothness of the paper.

　　The reason for the slight sliding between the rollers during calendering is the radial deformation of the paper pulp roller, which has a rolling and friction effect on the paper, improving its smoothness and glossiness.

　　2、 Moisture content of paper pages: Moisture is also an important factor affecting the calendering effect of the calender. If the moisture content is high, the calendering effect is good. Therefore, this type of paper needs to undergo a moisture regain treatment before calendering, to increase the moisture content to 15% -28%, such as capacitor paper, semi transparent paper, etc., which require higher requirements.

　　3、 Calendering speed: As the calendering speed of the calender increases, the time for the paper to press and shine will decrease, but the friction heat of the roller increases, which has a better effect. The smoothness and glossiness of the paper will be slightly improved.

　　4、 The number of calendering rollers and their surface temperature: Increasing the temperature of the rollers is the key to improving the smoothness, tightness, and transparency of the paper. However, when the temperature is too high and the moisture is too low, the calendering effect cannot achieve the desired state. At this point, it is necessary to increase the moisture content of the paper, or add cold water into the metal roller to cool down, adjust the temperature of the stick, and control the moisture content of the calendering process within a reasonable range.

　　5、 Composition of paper and properties of fiber raw materials: Generally, paper with high fiber and beating degree can easily improve smoothness and tightness after calendering. For pulp, wood pulp is higher than straw pulp, and chemical pulp is higher than ground wood pulp. If we use fillers with small particle size, high dispersion, and soft texture, the effect of the calender will be much better, and the smoothness, glossiness, and tightness of the paper will also be improved.
